Sky news reports:

Officials in China have reportedly been told to puff their way through four and a half million cigarettes a year.

And if they (Hubei province) fail to smoke their way through 230,000 packs of locally-produced cigarettes, the officials could face fines.

You may be asking yourself, why?  Well, it is to help boost the economy.  The article  states that there are 350 million smokers in China.  I guess 350 million just isn’t enough so now the Chinese government must force more people to smoke, or get the smokers to smoke more.

However, they are trying to get the doctors to stop smoking.  I guess they figure that they need their doctors alive to treat all the people who will be getting lung cancer, emphysema etc.  The article also says that around a million die every year from smoke related diseases.

This is the kind of things that happen in countries where the government controls the people.
